The British Council is pleased to present “Mary Shelley”, a story of the whirlwind love affair between poet Percy Shelley and Mary Wollstonecroft that led to the creation of the world’s first science fiction novel “Frankenstein”. Passionate and rebellious teenager Mary Wollstonecroft finds a kindred spirit in poet Percy Shelley; connected by a natural chemistry and progressive ideas that are beyond the boundaries of their age and time. Society at the time put little value in a woman writing such a literary masterpiece, and Mary is forced to challenge society to protect her monster and forge her own identity.
The biggest and longest film festival in the country is back! Cine Europa marks its 22nd year this 2019, opening in Manila on 20 September at Ayala Malls’ Greenbelt 3, Makati City. As it celebrates European Cultural Heritage, the EU Delegation to the Philippines, Chargé d’Affaires, a,i, Mr Thomas Wiersing said that Cine Europa is a distinctive way to showcase European cultural diversity in the Philippines and to open up opportunities in the cultural and creative industries.
