Love, Simon first made its impact on the big screens, earning $67 million worldwide after its release on March 16 last year. Based on Becky Albertalli’s book Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda, the popular narrative of Simon Spier will be heading into the televisions on Disney+.

Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox paved way for the teenage coming out story to extend its tale to the televisions.

The project will be based on the sequel of Albertalli’s first book, Leah on the Offbeat, which revolves around the point of view of Leah, Simon’s best friend, as she navigates herself through various issues including friendships, body issues, and self-esteem.

Love, Simon screenwriters Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker will return in the series as co-showrunners. However, the Love, Simon director, Berlanti, is not expected to return.

Love, Simon is a story of a teenage boy who has to come to his terms about his sexuality after he was blackmailed by his classmate to reveal his secret to the people close to him.

Without any more announcements presented, we can expect a lot of things… or not… in this news.
