British singer-songwriter has reportedly tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, in what they called “tiny winter wedding.”

Ed Sheeran hosted the “top secret” ceremony just before Christmas at the pop star’s country estate in Suffolk, where Cherry’s parents live close by. The singer-songwriter only invited his oldest friends and limited family only. According to UK newspaper The Sun, “He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them – just a tiny winter wedding.”

“It was very quiet – just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest. There were only 40 people – so no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals,” they added.

The event is so low-key that the news only emerged now. The British musician who sung and popularized the songs Thinking Out Loud, Perfect, The A Team, Photograph, The Lego House, etc. definitely has a thing with privacy. Sheeran proposed engagement to Seaborn on December 2017 but only announced it on Instagram on January 2018 with the caption, “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.” Later that year, the “private wedding” happened, and the news just broke recently.

It is no surprise Ed Sheeran acts this way. During an appearance on US TV in August, Sheeran was asked how he’d managed to sneak his engagement ring from the public to which he replied, “I never really do anything too public anyway.”

The couple has a long history behind them. They met in school when the singer was just 11 years old. However, they didn’t begin dating until 2015, when they reconnected. Their first date was at Swift’s Fourth of July party that year.

The newlyweds certainly has plans on having children, but probably not so soon, as Sheeran explained in 2017, “I actually think the meaning of life is to start a family and pass on knowledge to them and be loved and be loving, so that is definitely on the cards.”

“But not any time soon,” he added.
