The Traslacion or the procession of the Feast of the Black Nazarene is celebrated every 9th of January. It is one of the most important event that many Catholic Filipinos attend. Among those millions of people who are devoted to the Black Nazarene are celebrities. And despite their busy schedules, they make time to take part in the spectacular religious procession.

Here are five celebrities who joined the Traslacion 2019:

1. Coco Martin

Coco Martin has been joining the procession even before he joined the showbiz industry. His devotion started on 2007 when he first had the chance to touch the “Poong Nazareno” while shooting the indie film “Tirador.” Since then, he never forgot to give thanks to the black Nazarene for all the blessing not just on his family but also on his career. Martin also grew up praying to the Black Nazarene because his grandmother would take him to attend church on Quiapo.”Sinasama po ako ng lola ko sa pagsimba po ng Quiapo. Kaya lumaki po ako na ang aking laging pinagdarasalan ay ang Mahal na Nazareno,” he said.

Now, he still actively joins the procession: “Wala po akong ibang pinagpapasasalamatan sa lahat ng blessing na nakakamit ko ngayon at sa lahat po ng tulong na naibibigay ko sa pamilya ko at sa aking kapwa lahat po yon ay bigay ng Mahal na Nazareno.“ he said.

2. Angeline Quinto

The Kapamilya singer-actress has been devoted to the Black Nazarene since she was 9 years old and she never imagined that her devotion to the Black Nazarene will change her life. When her mom fell ill, she used to visit Quiapo Church to pray to the image after visiting her mom at the Philippine Heart Center.

Now, her mom is well, and so her faith started to grow more for the blessing that she believed the Black Nazarene has given. This year, one fellow devotee gave her a replica of the statue and she’s very thankful for it.
“MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO MAHAL NA POON. MARAMING SALAMAT SA PAGMAMAHAL NINYO SA AMIN.” she prayed.

3. Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco

Melai and Jason was seen at the Quirino Grandstand attending the holy mass. They thanked the Black Nazarene for the good health of their family and also for their career, especially that Melai has been getting many projects including her hosting spots for “Magandang Buhay” and “PBB Otso.”

4. Noli de Castro

Noli de Castro has been a devotee to the Black Nazarene for 30 years now, and he never missed it. Kabayan emphasized that he has always been putting Traslacion on top of his priorities every January 9 despite his busy schedule.
